MASA understands the critical importance of rapid response during emergencies. In times like these, access to medical services can mean the difference between life and death, particularly when roads are flooded, infrastructure is damaged, and medical facilities are stretched beyond capacity. Our mission is to protect people with compassion when facing life’s biggest emergencies, and we remain committed to supporting those affected by this catastrophic event.

Supporting frontline heroes

To further our commitment, MASA is donating to two organizations actively involved in disaster relief and emergency response:

  • Support Jamaica – Official Disaster Relief & Recovery: This division is managed by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) in partnership with government agencies, private sector and international relief organizations. Their focus is on immediate relief (food, shelter, medical aid) and also long-term recovery: helping the impacted individuals rebuild homes, restore livelihoods and strengthen resilience to future storms.
  • American Red Cross: The American Red Cross shelters, feeds, and provides comfort to victims of disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members, and their families. During Hurricane Melissa, The American Red Cross is closely coordinating with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to understand the effects of the storm and where the organization can offer support in the coming days and weeks.

Moving forward together

At MASA, we believe that no one should have to worry about unexpected bills during or after an emergency, and we are here to ensure that our members have greater peace of mind when accessing the emergency care they need. We are honored to support the healthcare workers and emergency responders who continue to make a difference during the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
