How it works
- Notify your healthcare team that you’re a member of MASA Assist by showing your member card which can be found on the app or in the member portal.
- MASA Assist will determine the location of the receiving hospital, and the attending hospital will work with your primary insurance to select/arrange acceptance at a receiving hospital.
MASA Assist and your care team make these decisions based on the medical specialists available for your specific condition, along with other factors such as weather and hospital capacity. - Once the decision is made, MASA will work out all the transport details and take care of the expenses after your health insurance pays its portion.

What happens if I forget to involve MASA Assist in the transport process?
Benefits are only activated when the MASA Assist transport team is part of the air ambulance coordination process. We recommend that you find ways to have your membership information on hand for emergencies — whether that’s by having a friend or family member know your coverage details or by having an easy way for your healthcare team to access your member information.
As a member, you can rely on MASA Assist to provide comprehensive coverage for your emergency medical transport expenses, plus connect you with the expert coordination services you need to help you access off-island critical care. To find out more about your specific plan benefits, view your coverage terms on the MASA app or the online portal.
