When serious illness or injury requires care not available locally, MASA Assist not only protects members from excessive emergency transport costs, it also continues to support them through recovery, logistics, and the return home.
Arriving and continuing care
Once a member lands at a specialized hospital in the United States, Puerto Rico, or another territory, care transitions quickly to medical teams prepared to treat their condition. If recovery requires rehabilitation, skilled nursing, hospice, or continued care closer to home, many MASA Assist plans include Post Admission Continued Care Transportation, reimbursing eligible expenses to help members reach the next stage of care or return to their residence.
Support for companions loved ones
Emergencies are easier to face with someone by your side. Many MASA Assist plans include Companion Air and Ground Ambulance Transportation, allowing a companion to accompany the member during eligible emergency transports. If hospitalization is extended far from home, MASA Assist has plan benefits that can help. Our Hospital Visitor Air Transportation may help bring a loved one to visit a member who has been hospitalized, while our Extended Hospital Stay Incidental Expense Protection can reimburse eligible costs like lodging, meals, and local transportation after seven days or more away from home.
Recovery and medical follow ups
Some emergencies result in conditions that require additional medical care that simply isn’t available locally. MASA Assist provides supportive plan benefits, such as Essential Medical Care Transportation, Patient Return Transportation, and Companion Return Transportation, protecting members from eligible travel expenses incurred when receiving necessary treatment. For members who benefit from continued recovery closer to family, our Repatriation to Hospital Near Home Transportation helps make that possible.
Handling life’s practical details
Emergencies often leave everyday responsibilities unresolved. If a member’s minor child or a beloved pet is left behind during an emergency, MASA Assist provides plan benefits to make sure they are safely reunited with a parent or guardian. Our Vehicle & RV Return plan benefit also ensures your vehicle is returned to your home.
More than emergency medical transport
Life in the Caribbean can mean higher risks1 of overwhelming medical bills and limited access to advanced care. MASA Assist exists to guide members through every phase — from emergency transport to recovery, reunification, and return home — so you can focus on healing, not logistics.
